Trekking Beyond Trauma:

A Journey of Healing for wounded soldiers in Kathmandu

In a remarkable chapter of their recovery, a group of elite Sayeret Matkal soldiers, still bearing the profound wounds from the devastating events of October 7th, recently embarked on an empowering journey to Kathmandu. Due to the severe nature of their injuries and resulting physical limitations, a significant portion of this challenging expedition was bravely undertaken on horseback. This venture, far from a typical vacation, was an integral part of their ongoing healing, designed to help them rediscover their strength and learn new strategies for coping with adversity amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Nepal.

This unique endeavor was meticulously planned, beginning long before their departure. Haim, our farm’s dedicated horsemanship, alongside Ruthy, welcomed these courageous soldiers to the farm, personally preparing them for the journey ahead. They provided specialized training, teaching the soldiers how to ride effectively and safely, adapted to their specific physical limitations.

Haim join the expedition itself, his presence was a cornerstone of support. While his deep expertise is rooted in equine connection and therapy, it was his profound understanding of resilience, coupled with this preparatory work, that proved instrumental in guiding these men. He helped them navigate not only the rugged Nepalese terrain but also the internal landscapes of their recovery, fostering strength and hope with every step.
