Passover Seder for at-risk youth
without family support
”כָּל דִכְפִין יֵיתֵי וְיֵיכֹל”
Passover is a time when families gather around the Seder table, but for many young people, there’s no family in their lives. They have nowhere and no one to celebrate with. We refuse to let them spend another holiday alone!
For the second year, we hosted around 60 precious guests—60 young people without family support, who for years have celebrated Passover alone. We decided to truly embody the holiday mitzvah, “Let all who are hungry come and eat!”, and make it our tradition.
So, what did this entail?…
We prepared three festive meals, and did all the necessary shopping for the Seder and then more shopping for meals throughout the three-day event, and even more shopping for snacks and treats to enhance the experience between meals…
And none of this would have been possible without the help of our generous and loyal donors!
The result was deeply moving and heartwarming! We were honored to host some of the young people for the second time, and we were blessed to welcome many new faces. But beyond nourishing the body, there’s always a need to nourish the soul: The local Rabbi led a study session, we facilitated sharing and reflection gatherings, we sang and danced, and we were filled with profound gratitude for the immense honor of fulfilling the holiday mitzvah in the most impactful way possible.
